A Comparison of Cryopreservation and Dehydration Tissue Processing Methods in Preserving Bioactivity of Umbilical Cord and Amniotic Membrane Tissue Grafts

Different tissue processing methods can dramatically affect structural integrity, as well as biological activity of matrix cell signaling factors that are essential for the intended use of the product. To determine whether this might be the case for processing of Amniotic Membrane (AM) or Umbilical Cord (UC) tissues, we compared cryopreserved tissues processed by the CRYOTEK® method (CT-AM, CT-UC), to tissue processed by an alternative method, tissue dehydration, in physical and biochemical assays.
